I have a question regarding portfolio margin, if someone has positions collaterlized by usd, then deposit hype, can they then fully withdraw their usd if the hype is enough to cover their positions?

in what situation would you need to do this😂 that seems way overcomplicating it

What? Someone might be trading without PM, then realized they can collaterlize with hype and wanna switch without closing everything?? This seems super common

you need more collateral then. from my observations, it only allows you to withdraw if your margin is ~10% of notional

The hype was absolutely enough to cover all positions, in fact I moved the hype and opened all positions without issue. Seems like an issue with portfolio margin…

the 10% margin requirement is imposed on withdrawals, set at 10% of total notional position value of all open positions. https://hyperliquid.gitbook.io/hyperliquid-docs/trading/margining#maintenance-margin-and-liquidations the borrow limit on pm is a separate issue so if you have 100k of positions, you can only withdraw anything in excess of 20k USD of HYPE and 0 USDC or anything in excess of 0 USD of HYPE and 10k USDC

Explain this too me, I have some usd to margin some positions, I deposit hype and can’t withdraw all the usd. Instead I take the hype and deposit it into a fresh account, open the exact same positions as the original account with no extra usd needed. Can you explain the logic there?

help me answer these: how much USD margin did you have before depositing HYPE? what is the total notional position value (using cross margin) of all your open positions? how much USD value of HYPE did you deposit? i have said the 10% margin is imposed on withdrawals

1) the exact numbers should t matter to explain why my description makes sense 2) what do u mean 10% margin ?? If the hype is enough margin to cover all positions why wouldn’t one be able to withdraw all the USD

you don't need to give me exact numbers, you just need to give me ballpark figures if you want me to explain to you with your positions in mind. otherwise you will have to deal with my generalities 10% margin = if you have 100k of positions, you can only withdraw anything in excess of 20k USD of HYPE and 0 USDC, as per my previous answer withdrawal margin is 10%, instead of the normal maintenance margins, because someone exploited this last time.

Let’s say 100k notional (so let’s say 20k min margin needed), we have 100k usd margin (so 5x the min needed), then we deposit lets say 200k of hype (at 50% ltv thats equivalent of 100k usd margin), why can’t we withdraw all usd in that case

that all checks out to me based on my understanding of port margin, seems to me like you should be able to withdraw usdc in that case. you can <#1042082797956890694> and a team member can answer you more specifically if you share with your address there.
