how do i make a limit order, say im in for longs, and if i make a limit sell, below the current market price it executes instantly, as a market order, but i need it to be a limit order and only execute at the price i want so it acts as a stop loss, but a stop limit order is asking me for a trigger price? But i want it to execute the limit order exactly on the price i need not trigger x limit order on y price which then it will still be lower than market price so i guess it will execute again as a market order? How do i make a limit order that doesnt execute immedialty and only executes once the price drops to its level so if im in for longs and i put a sell order it only executes at that price ie it rests or sum idk.

stop market?
stop market?
no as a limit order
no as a limit order
i'm guessing the confusion comes from the "trigger price", which is exactly the triggering MARK price that your limit order at a price will be placed at

but there is price, and then trigger price
but there is price, and then trigger price
If I'm following what you are saying, that isn't possible. It would have to be a resting limit market order (essentially a stop market). It's not possible to set a tp at a lower limit level (as it will fill immediately). If it was a resting limit order the price would likely just move through that limit order so it's not possible to guarantee a fill at that price

like if say btc is at 64k, and im in for longs since 62k, and i want to place a limit order, below market price so at 63.9k to exit my position if it pulls back. How do i do that while paying the maker fee not taker?

you could likely do a stop-limit order in that case

how do i set it up? so it works as intented like a normal limit order.

set it to "trigger" at 63.9k, and then set what price you would want the limit order to fill at, say 63.5k or better or something like that. With a stop limit though you are not guaranteed to get a fill if the price moves past your limit order price. If you want a guaranteed fill you would have to use stop market. But if you set the limit order price low enough in relation to your trigger price, you would likey be filled as a maker

yeah but if i set a trigger price at 63.9k and i set the limit price to lower than like 63.8k because that is lower than market price it will execute my order as a market order, since its lower than the current market price no?

have you tried a higher price?

for a higher price i can use a normal limit order, but i want to be able to exit at a lower price if the price pull backs, and if i set a trigger price at 63.9k but a limit order price at 63.91k then whats the chance price will tick up again to hit my limit order. It will just continue going down and down.

yes I think you're right, that will execute as a market order. Easiest way to understand how it behaves is to do some smaller test orders (above $10)

This behavior has been updated in a recent frontend update. Dragging a triggered order now edits the limit price. You would expect to see your trigger order being canceled and the modified order placed as a new limit order.
