The utility has yet to be proven to me because 99% of the exposure I have to crypto in my day to day life is people hoping to get rich or crime, or gray area regulation evasion. Cannot think of a single transaction I have ever made where I thought "wow this would have been better if I did this with crypto". I think it's quite a big assumption that there's inherent value to it and that the volatility will just go away at some point. The price has been far too tied to various external pressures for me to believe that
