It would have most certainly cost 4500 to dispute. People bonded at 99 with 20k on the line. they would have tried to force the proposal again and then you have to dispute all three brackets twice.

Polymarket chose Fifa as the event resolution source. Fifa said cancelled so it was treated as such even though it was incorrect. If shares are mispriced according to you then always read the rules of the market. That doesn't excuse what happened because resolution sources can be incorrect and those who do the work to find out end up losing out.

Polymarket doubled down on it and clarified that the match is to be considered cancelled. Sadly, I don't think anyone is getting refunds. But you are correct that Comoros won the match and FIFA has updated their site as well.

I brought it to the attention of UMA people. But they shrugged it off and didn't extend the challenge period for the proposal. So no one disputed it within the 30-40 minutes they had to dispute it and now it resolved incorrectly

You have to complain to polymarket about this. The system is not good. Markets resolve in 30 minutes and if someone proposes wrong you might have to dispute up to 6 times putting up 4500.

the thing with these markets is if you are betting big money you have to take the responsibility to dispute. And it's going to cost a lot of money to dispute because you have to dispute multiple times and multiple markets. So if you buy cheap shares hoping someone else will dispute it's not always going to work out.
