If the taker paid fees in tokens like you're saying, then there would be a discrepancy between the amount of tokens they receive and the amount the 2 makers received, but in fact they match up. Got it brah?

Also the token amounts for the taker and 2 makers match up, wouldn't there be a discrepancy if it was taken as fees

Ok but since when can you send an order for 50.157891 shs?

And even so, trading a number of shs that's not a multiple of 0.01 shouldn't be possible right

It's not an average, it shows that as a single maker order

Does anyone know what happened with this trade (trade id 'dcde0dfc-7a13-4b45-bd9c-8a0e8d0e070a')? The taker order is for 50.157891 shares which I thought was impossible (usually it's a multiple of 0.01), and it traded with a maker order at a price of 0.2400000143396274, which should also be impossible

<@886456112201728000> <@1356604771208790198> yeah but if we've already reached a tier, we won't be backpaid the bonus? so we're just getting scammed for no reason

But yeah aside from polymarket's incompetence I posted here because you can actually save on taker fees by sending your orders differently, even when they result in the exact same trades, so I suggest anyone here who pays significant taker fees should read it

They genuinely just seem lazy and short-sighted idk what else to say

Because the taker fees are calculated on the average price but the maker fees are calculated per level

That's different, the inconsistency here is caused by them using different formulas for taker fees and maker rebates

Someone from polymarket actually gave a response on Cantina basically acknowledging that this is how it works but tried to claim there's nothing wrong with it. That finding was disputed and then they just ignored it

It's pretty easy to check, just make a taker order that trades with maker orders at multiple different price levels, preferably quite far apart so the difference is obvious. Then calculate the fees using the average price for the whole trade or by calculating them per level. Then check the USDC amount transferred onchain and you'll see it matches the first method

To be clear I don't mean average price over the whole day or something, just over a single taker order that trades with maker orders at multiple different price levels

They do just use average price, that's the problem. The correct way would be to do it per level

I've checked onchain and the taker fee numbers I see always exactly match what I expect so I'm pretty confident that polymarket is indeed calculating taker fees in this buggy/inconsistent way

These kind of bugs always seem to "conveniently" work in polymarket's favour

Ok well let me know if you see something more concrete. I can also help check for you if you give me trade info and links to polygonscan

The higher fees only happen to taker orders that trade with maker orders at multiple different price levels. Do you have an example of getting lower fees than you expected? I've never seen that

Just letting fellow devs know that taker fees are broken and as a result: 1) Taker fees are often higher (and never lower) than what you'd expect from looking at fills and using the formula from the docs 2) Taker fees and maker rebates from the same trades don't always line up as they should 3) You can be charged different fees for the exact same taker trades, depending on what orders were sent to make those trades 4) Buying shares in a winning outcome can actually cause you to lose money Number 4 is the most alarming imo since making winning trades should never cause you to lose money, but number 3 is the most actionable since you can save money on taker fees by sending different orders, even while making the exact same trades. This was reported on Cantina but polymarket decided to be lazy as usual and ignore it. I've attached the full report
