by definition, if you are using chainlink prices, (which update every 1 second) your data will always be about 1 second delayed.

Mate, if you think you are going to trade off the chainlink data, you are already lost. Thats just about the slowest data source you can use.

Hang around in here, we are a loathesome bunch 😂 . But generally pretty helpful, there's a ton of tribal knowledge for these markets at this point.

Poly in general is awful at documentation, informing users, communicating, and doing othere things. They added a 500 ms taker delay randomly and did it by posting a single discord message from a mod. Then they removed it randomly the same way, and then added it back via a new message in an official channel (months apart for all of these) So alot of the knowledge is just hidden about willy nilly and with no real way to know if you are up to date. They once even changed fees on us one day without releasing the fee schedule, or having any way to get what the current fees were.

Protip: last_trade only subscribes to that TOKENS last trade though, so you have to subscribe to both websockets to compute volume

The order clob does not distinguish between the two actions, but the onchain portion does.

The difference is that you can only SELL tokens you own. So you can either SELL a yes token or BUY a No token to achieve the same position.

YES/NO are the same market but different tokens. There is only one central orderbook for YES/NO

If i was polymarket, i would have absolutely zero tolerance for a match failing, or at least that would be my number one KPI that i track and it should be priority 1 to get that to zero

Anytime you have an orderbook match, and the transaction fails. It should be priority number 1 to fix that, thats literally the whole point of an exchange, to provide a place where buyers and sellers can match and be confident that when that is agreed on it happens.

I mean, isnt the next logical step here that manipulators are going to immediately self trade on an illiquid market in the same block to cancel their fills? If i can come up with a scenario like that, its going to get exploited.

So we just aren't going to do anything about it? I mean, the only point of a matching engine and an exchange is to ensure that when a buyer and a seller match, that the match actually happens. Any failure rate of that is not something we should just be OK with.
