Back then the crypto stuff was just tucked away in the corner quietly churning the fees that were keeping the company afloat. When I found it I snort laughed and here i am

Funny thing is some early Instagram ad about "Bet on the weather!" Is actually what brought me to Kalshi in the first place, and it was to clown on how stupid that sounded when I saw it

Yeah weather markets actually intrigue me a bit, my concern is the variability in determination data. One extra rain drop falls in one spot in Central Park and who knows. At least with crypto I can look up the index records

But more importantly the prediction aspect of it was just an engine to find market inefficiencies

I never assume what anyone's running or what they need to run it, but if the strat is sound you should be able to make money on a small scale to start and build capital to expand

I found a reddit post recently with some statistics phd who had built a weather trading system and he might as well have been describing my crypto system

It's interesting the things I've read from people who focus on weather markets it is actually the closest thing I've found to crypto markets

I will say I focus 100% on the crypto markets. I have tools that could be used on other categories but I prefer to specialize

We don't get into personal strats here, sufficed to say I'm not looking for high volume or need higher than advanced tiers. But I do run strats that churn relatively small order sizes into pretty big total volume. Say you're effectively capturing the spread in the crypto 15m market. 500 contracts a pop that's $1000 in volume and you could be doing that dozens of times or more in a cycle. And that's on one coin

A few thousand dollar bankroll can easily produce millions in monthly volume

Kalshi wants to make sure your added drag on the API is worth it to them in terms of fee collection. If your strat only works with small order sizes and hundreds of amend orders a second then it's not fiscally viable to them

So again I'd focus on maximizing profitability in a subset of markets and if it's truly profitable you should be able to up your order sizes and start growing your overall volume

If your strats are profitable enough to require higher tiers to expand then specialize for a while and raise capital to get your volume up

Yeah it only applies to crypto/fin markets where the tickers are always consistently named

Good volume is relative. If you've been doing consistent volume and it's been that long you should reapply. They do slip through the cracks sometimes

There's no set time frame. It can take months, but the more volume you move the faster it will go. I waited on mine for a few months and then when I upped my volume by about 5x I got approved within a couple days

For crypto it's easiest to just use the naming conventions at least for series. I never trust the categories but it's easy to just hardcode a list of series for market discovery or even just construct the exact market tickers given the date and time

to align the API with the matching engine's single book bid/ask structure. it's a pretty painless migration, just make sure your order execution layer is sending the correct bid/ask side and price depending on what you're trying to achieve. that's in the V2 docs

I've completely migrated to the external urls and the v2 order endpoints. It's not that big of a refactor

It looks like you were using the v2 endpoints on the legacy elections URL which shouldn't have had an increased token cost unless that is also happening now. But even if it's not probably best practice to move over to the external urls
