Also odd that Kalshi changed them to all open at the same time rather than at the start of the hour.

Maybe just a fluke. But it did cause my system to get tripped up a bit. I'll have to keep my eye on it.

But if you pull all trades for the market, there are no trades causing it to open at 10 cents. And this was happening on hundreds of markets.

I also noticed that as of a few days or so ago, they all open at 6am ET now, rather than staggered, opening an hour before closing.

Just noticed an odd behavior in the Financial S&P 500 Hourly markets today. For the very unlikely out-of-range strike value markets (e.g. "$6,350 or above" when the S&P 500 was at like $7,300), that have zero volume. Normally they open at 0 cents. Today, they were all opening at 10 cents. Is this some sort of fluke, or an intentional behavior change by Kalshi?

The hard thing about paper trading is if your system relies at all on limit orders and whether it will get filled. So I just go with 1 contract orders when I'm testing and just pay the cost of testing

I feel like there's still tons of room for lots of strategies. I've got all kinds of ideas I'm thinking about messing with regarding types of orders, the new reduce only / reduce by options, cancellation timers, etc

Mentions markets are the ones that made me laugh the most when I learned about them. Lol

It took a while to get it to the point where I was pretty much right Dead on 10 orders per second.

Basic tier rates honestly are more than enough for 99% of people. My system had no problem placing around 200k+ orders a day on the basic tier. With plenty of dead time.

Send it to me, I'll type it in for you (please dont do that)

Yeah, for Crypto it's pretty consistent. But my system is generic for all of Kalshi and allows the end user to build their own automations. The fields like category, tags, competition, scope, frequency, etc are used for discovery. And for markets like international soccer, where there's like 100 leagues, each with their own series ticker, then relying on series ticker alone gets annoying. So I'ld have to build something to handle crypto as special.

If you know the series ticker, you could try typing it into the URL manually: https://kalshi.com/markets/kxbtc15m/

Probably related to the issue I pointed out earlier - Category is wiped out on them. Kalshi website probably relies on it.

When I first built my system, I simply stored the series ticker and some other data. But then I wanted the automations to auto-pick up similar series. So I stopped relying on series ticker. Now I don't know what the fix is. lol.

I've manually updated my database in the meantime but it's just going to get overwritten again if they bump the updated time and I pull it in.

Unfortunately that's not as easy of an option for me. My system is sort of like a UI / automation builder. So my UI is driven similar to the Kalshi website for drilling down and building automations. Now when my automations run, they skip those series completely.

This is the second API data annoyance I've run into in the last 24 hours. Yesterday I found a ton of events have their `last_updated_ts` set to `0001-01-01T00:00:00.000Z`, which caused them to get skipped when pulling deltas from the `/events` endpoint with `min_updated_ts`. So I've had to start pulling individually.

Those counts are for active markets. Well that's fun. A bunch of crypto series got their category wiped out. So my system stopped seeing them and stopped trading on them. And I didn't get a null error because they're setting it to `""`.
