Another example, I’m around rank 30 on Brazil, so I’m not starting from zero. But with the current structure, it still feels extremely hard (basically mathematically impossible) to reach the top prizes unless you were already very high from the group stage

I agree players from the start should have an edge, no issue with that. But I’m not saying someone joining now should easily compete for 1st place overall. My point is more about whether new/behind users have a realistic shot at even the smaller prizes for knockout rounds. If the answer is basically “only if there is a huge upset / perfect picks / finalist run”, then many people may just not bother entering or trading in the round. Canada being predictable is exactly part of the issue imo: if normal/predictable outcomes mostly keep the same leaderboard, then the R32 prize feels more like an extension of group-stage rewards than a fresh round incentive. Group-stage players already got rewarded for that stage. They should keep an advantage, but knockout rounds should still feel open enough that more users want to participate.

Regarding the World Cup promo scoring, I think there may be an issue with how much group-stage points carry into knockout rounds. Right now it feels like users who finished very high in the group-stage leaderboard have such a big advantage that later round prizes are also heavily tilted toward them. I understand they should keep an edge because they played from the start, but they already got rewarded through the group stage prize pools. The question is whether knockout-round prizes should feel like a new meaningful competition too, rather than mostly an extension of the group stage leaderboard. Canada yesterday is a good example: the top 10 for the Round of 32 ended up being basically the same users from the group-stage ranking. That makes the R32 prize feel less like a new round prize and more like an additional reward for the same group-stage leaders. Another example: if a team’s current top 500 cutoff is already around 5,000–5,500 points and perfect R32 gives around 7,050 points, a new user can guess all the correct picks this round and still miss even the minimum prize if existing users score some points too. From a user/incentive POV, that can be the difference between “I’ll enter and trade this round” and “probably not worth the time.” I’m not saying group stage players should lose their advantage. They should keep one. I just think the knockout rounds may need enough weight that people outside the early leaderboard still feel they have a realistic shot at at least a small prize. Curious what other users think, does the current scoring feel balanced, or would higher knockout-round points make you more likely to participate/trade?

How many fan points would someone get for guessing everything correctly in the Round of 32? Main thing I’m wondering is whether the knockout scoring will be high enough to keep the leaderboard open for people behind/new participants or if group stage points will still be too dominant I think keeping the promo feeling winnable during knockouts would drive more participation
