why May 31 strike (Sunday, with report on Monday morning) should be treated different than June 30 (Tuesday, with next report, maybe, one week later)? They should be resolved same way no matter what day of the week it is.

the thing is that here the report was just hours later, but if that were not the case no one would have asked to wait for one week or one month, it would have resolved seamlessly by 2 AM. (as it happened with previous dates, no one said "let's wait just in case")
