It is just a different way to realize market orders. Once it is triggered it behaves exactly like a real market order. I am not really sure whether this mechanism has crucial advantages compared to using limit orders. Some more investigation may be needed to find advantages and disadvantages for both methods. In both cases you need a price that deviates from some reference price in a certain direction. Maybe the trigger order method is more robust to order cancellations that happen sometimes due to the order price being too far from the mark price.
