<@707597210845446214> Can you guys please refrain from going decimal when it comes to World cup games? They completely destroy the spreads.

Disagree! 1c spread is not a standard in sports betting. Taking for example Betfair exchange - 2 decimal places in odds is a standard. This can't be accomplished with a 1c spread in price, because you get something like 1.69 - 1.72 spread (59c-58c). This kills the MMs and pre match there is hardly any activity. Not good for PM as well. I do however agree that 3 decimal places in decimal odds is too much and the ideal would perhaps be 0.5c of increment.

I understand your point of saying a 1c spread hurts the MM' s but you forget that the MM's have been making it work even with that spread by manipulating the orderbook artifically to boost the prices up and cash out before the games start

So reducing the spread to me is not a wise decision since kalshi still has a 1c spread which forces people to just be a taker instead of being makers which in turn makes polymarket more money

Flow was working just fine before. I would be ok with 0.5c increments but 0.1 is simply too much. No (directionless) MM in their right mind should offer prices that close to the midpoint, and if they do not get filled reasonably often, they have no incentive to stay. Also we should not compare PM to sports-books because there is no vig here. Only fees and only for the takers. The system was rather balanced with the 1c increments

it makes sense to have 0.1 when odds are very high/low

Can you still please address my request of keeping the 1c increments, since the system was already working before? I was getting filled continuously before so liquidity was not an issue.

Can someone please tell me what's going on with the world cup markets? Every single one for tomorrow is broken with decimals

Anybody? Why is every world cup match for tomorrow in decimals? Are you trying to run off your liquidity providers? Because this is a quick way to do it

Do you have any information on why world cup is giving decimals for all matches tomorrow?

Why are world cup matches all bugged with decimals for tomorrow? I'm gonna miss out on an entire day of trading.

Thanks! Is there any way to know beforehand which markets will have 1¢ ticks and which will use decimal ticks? Also, are decimal ticks planned for all future World Cup markets or only for some matches?

Only some matches for now, afaik. Normally, the tick size switches to 0.001 when the price on one side hits 96c

Got it, thanks! But then why do some markets like this one use decimal ticks even though the prices aren't anywhere near 96¢? Is there another rule for these markets?

Those are exceptions for now

I'd like to give you more details, but I can't for now. As I mentioned, these few WC matches with an early switch to a 0.001 tick size are exceptions. And this affects only the moneyline markets in particular there
