E)REF NOTAM A1178/26, ALL AIRPORTS IN WEST PART OF TEHRAN FIR ARE CLOSED EXCEPT:
- OIAA, **OISS**, OICC, OIAW, **OIFM**, OISR, OIAM, OISL, AND OICI OPERATING SUNRISE TO SUNSET (HJ),
- IN ADDITION, HAJ FLIGHT IS AUTHORIZED TO OPERATE AT OIFM AND OISS DURING NIGHT PERIOD,
ALL PREVIOUS PERMISSIONS ARE SUSPENDED FOR ALL OPERATORS,
- NEW PERMISSION SHALL BE REQUESTED FOR OPERATION OF CIVIL IFR PASSENGER FLIGHTS FROM IRAN CAA.
New notam replacing it:

In that western airspace is:
SYZ / Shiraz / **OISS**
IFN / Isfahan / **OIFM**
Which are now closed. The rules require at least 2 of 5 airports in a list to close for it to be a "major airspace closure". Those two airports are now closed.

Hey guys. I've checked the evidence and I'm convinced that a material change in Iran's airspace has changed via NOTAMs available from the FAA, sufficient to resolve the market. Those saying Western airspace airports were always closed are demonstrably incorrect. If you're interested, here's how to confirm for yourself what's going on:
- To manually check this evidence, visit the FAA's website: https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch/nsapp.html#/
- Select "Archive Search", enter 2026-06-16, then OIIX for location
- Scroll down a few times until you find A1256/26, which states: "ALL AIRPORTS ... ARE CLOSED EXCEPT: OIAA, OISS, OICC, OIAW, OIFM, OISR, OIAM, OISL, AND OICI OPERATING SUNRISE TO SUNSET (HJ)"
- Go back to the FFA's homepage
- Select "Free Text" from the dropdown
- Enter "A1271/26" to confirm the new NOTAM that **explicitly closes ALL airports with NO exceptions**
- Enter "A1277/26" to confirm an extension to that new NOTAM, closing airspace for an even longer period
"Iran closes airspace by...?" should all resolve Yes.

<@941405798096076880> if you need clarification on airspace:
Iran issued 2 non-weather NOTAMS which closed major part of the airspace.
Both NOTAMS are closing 2/5 airports, 1 is replacing NOTAMR A1256/26 which previously was allowing operation of this 2 airports with nighttime restrictions. Other one replaced A1178/26, which updated overflight restrictions.
Both new NOTAMS are active and under they operation 2/5 major airports needed by rules are completely closed. All other western part of Iran airports are closed too. This qualifies by rules written.
This 2 NOTAMS were closing airspace for 2.5h.
Later they were replaced with A1277/26 and A1276/26 extension NOTAMS, which makes total airspace closure 5+ hours already.
Previous resolved airspace closure was around 5h, not like it does matter by the rules.
NOTAMS are issued by Iranian Civil Aviation Organisation which is direct resolution source.
Weather argument:
Weather related NOTAM coding would point to meteorological services or weather contamination subjects FM = meteorological service or contain exact weather condition wording in the body of NOTAM
For our notams we have QFALC and QAFXX
FA = Aerodrome and LC = Closed
No weather mentioned
The SIGMET posted in pm-review confirms embedded thunderstorms existed in part of Tehran FIR but it does not mean that the closure was weather caused. NOTAMS themselves do not mention TS, CB, WX, SIGMET, visibility, wind, RVR, runway contamination or any meteorological cause. They use FIR aerodrome closure codes and a pre existing west/east Tehran FIR boundary, Iran CAA permission requirements and hajj flight exceptions. SIGMET polygon is nearly do not cover 2 closed airports and two airports counted as closed under the west sector.
No country closes half of the airports cause of any thunderstorm, not to mention "presented" one as N argument.
