I pointed out in May that there was the possibility for a word that doesn't have a standard plural form being used plurally. I said it was pedantic, but now there's a dispute over "nutmegs", will the rules stay as-is, or will they be changed?~~

~~This is such a bad patch for the problem. Just allow non-standard pluralization! As long as it's contextually plural, adverse cases of non-pluralized words that end in an S can be mediated with common sense.~~
