There's always upside to be lost. I know you're young. My advice is think in quarters/years. If losing a few days of profit helps you maximize in the longterm that's an investment, not a loss

If you've ever run a brick and mortar operation (I know you haven't) you understand sometimes you need to shut down and forgo revenue for necessary maintenance

Yeah and that's your margins. If they're so thin you can't be down for a couple days without blowing up your operation you're on some thin margins

If your margins are that thin you can probably find a way to shimmy it over. I'd just bite the bullet and get it done right if I were you. Take a long weekend

But that's a couple days? Again if you're serious about this it's worth doing it right

I made the transition in an afternoon. Biggest lag was my own banking side moving funds. I don't know if Kalshi can easily move funds from an existing acct to a new one so you might have to account for that

Yeah it might mean a bit of a hiccup but it's worth the trouble if you're doing this for real

Your mileage may vary. I trade on short term crypto markets so bei g down for a few hours is no big deal

They won't lock your personal acct but they will make it transfer only. Meaning you can't open new contracts but your open contracts are fine

I can't promise anything but how it worked for me was I reached out to the general institutional email support to make sure I had all the relevant docs I got a response from an an individual POC in the institutional dept who walked me through the application process. When I had all of the relevant docs he was standing by to instantly approve the new account and then confirmed he would be my personal POC going forward The document process took some time on my end but Kalshi made it very simple

I was thrilled to empty my personal account when I opened an institutional. It took 4 hours because I had a personal POC who fast tracked it and from that moment on I had that POC for any issue. Responses within minutes for any issue

If your goal is leaderboard status that is some video game stuff for casuals. Institutional accounts are for serious traders

Seems like your biggest concern is leaderboard displays and this might not be the best channel for that

I promise if you have any kind of relevant volume you already have a personal POC. If you'd like better communication I'd suggest incorporating and getting an institutional account

Among other things. My initial use for it was to rake profits to a cash account for position sizing purposes but since I've used it to silo strategies and test new functions

wonder where the subaccount names are stored. nothing added to the API to retrieve/modify them

A bit of a grey area. It used to be it would reject the order outright. Lately on IOC orders I've had it fill up to the balance in my account and cancel the rest

The price_cents thing in particular is very odd. Everything's been fp for going on 6 months now

I don't think anyone knows yet. This is the first it's been announced and it does seem a little janky. I can't quite get my head around it as described in the docs now. My guess is it will be refined

If you have the capital to move the BTC or ETH markets you aren't messing with individual prediction market levels of liquidity

I'd be more concerned about Kalshi tweaking the resolution price but that would be incredibly risky for them especially now that CFB price feeds are available

The rate this has been happening the past few weeks you'd almost think it was being manipulated if that wouldn't take billions of dollars to make pennies on prediction markets

Yeah last summer was essentially when sports were introduced to Kalshi at all and the early days were pretty sparse. Wasn't really until the NFL season last year that things really exploded into what they are now

You're saying you can't find historical data for markets earlier than June of last year. The likely answer is there were no markets trading under those event tickers before that. If you're saying you know there WAS market activity before that on those tickers and you can't find it then no, I did not answer your question

That's essentially what you have on IB too. The mechanisms are more robust there but they're just siloed funds under one verified account holder

I'm not sure what you're asking about. You want to run strategies on siloed funds. That's what subaccounts are for

Mostly you're sending yes/no instead of bid/ask and you're not using fixed point pricing (42 instead of 0.4200, etc)

But it's not a speed issue it's a volume issue. Orders take the same amount of system load to update if they're for 1 contract or 100,000. The limits are there so hobbyists aren't bogging down the server tweaking nickel and dime orders at the expense of serious market makers

Lots of people "feel" like the limits should be higher because of...vibes? No one ever does the math to see what their actual capital contribution to the exchange is worth vis a vis the API overhead. They just kinda think they should be able to get more
