My strat requires me to update hundreds of single contract orders every second or it can't be profitable!

Seems like the only practical implication is order serialization. Haven't seen any remedy to that yet but also seems like a bit of an edge case

There is apparently a server side load to batch orders they don't want to deal with and it's probably best to start removing that functionality now

It's nothing to do with a specific VPS your code is just hammering the api past your rate limit

But I wouldn't be surprised if there were occaisionally latency issues. I just don't monitor those for latency

Not latency per se just some weird race behavior. Showing settlement updates while still showing open exposure. Stuff like that

Wholesale api outages have become somewhat rare in recent months (I'm sure someone is going to contradict me on this immediately) so you sort of have to know where your pain points are and build tests around them

Seems pretty straightforward to me. Your rate tier gives you a write budget and that's how many orders you can send in a batch. Now if it is limiting orders below that limit which it sounds like it does then that'd a different issue entirely, but the language in the doc is clear

Not sure it could work with GTC orders. Although I'm not sure it could work with any orders

But if there were 50 contracts available at a best buy of 0.8500 it would fill those and then cancel (assuming IOC)

Ideally. Say in the above scenario by the time the order reaches the engine the best buy is 0.6000 then it would simply cancel with no fills

so say you send a limit order for 100 buys at 0.9900 and a min price of 0.8500 as long as the best buy price was between 85-99 it would fill what it could. the more i draw it out the more complicated it sounds...

just spitballing but my imagined behavior would be it would fill whatever it could between the minimum and limit price

I found Kalshi because in the early days they were hammering the marketing for the weather markets and I thought it was hilarious. Then I found the fin markets

It's funny though weather markets are probably the closest to crypto/fin markets as far as being able to build prob models for algo trading. I've read some good papers on it

Guess that's a fair question for the 1 in a billion shot it happens. But this past month I've seen some real nail biters

Are you asking if it includes if the price lands precisely on one of those strikes?

Like I said, it's niche. But I can imagine other applications for sending a min and max price on an order potentially

Basically I have some strats that bypass my probability engines and rely on market implied probabilities very close to expiration. These can move quickly with small underlying price movements to the point where a flagged trade at say 90c can have dropped to under 50c in the ms it takes to form and send the order payload and I want to avoid that scenario I've built a gate that does a quick order book ladder check right before actually sending the order to see if conditions are still favorable but it adds a bit of latency to the order process

Also realize this might be such a niche use case it wouldn't be worth the effort

<@1294044400065839177> this might be completely impractical given the inner workings of the matching engine, but would it be possible to include a minimum price parameter on orders to put a floor on where it can fill?

well they have been transparent that the main concern with the web UI is the casual user and i'd imagine even a heavy "normal" user has never experienced anything they';d recognize as a problem with the UI

when most people gripe about building their own UI's it seems to stem ultimately from the fact that they're not actually tracking/logging their own trades and just want kalshi to do all of it. then they're surprised when the kalshi UI doesn't offer them unlimited customization
